How to Get a Job in The Media?

Studying in the media or mass communication field? Worried whether you can obtain a job after graduation? Hearing rumours that mass comm’ers can’t get job these days? Well, you’ve come to the right place to discuss about it.

Some say it is because there are too many graduates in this field and not as many job opportunities. I checked out Jobstreet, they offer only 60 related jobs for fresh/ entry level mass comm grads in Malaysia. So out of the thousands of media grads, only 60 could get a job? Scary huh…

There isn’t an exact figure for your chances to get a media job in Malaysia without any experience. But let’s forget about that and focus on making yourself capable to get one.  I have always believed that, with the right attitude, persistence and bit of luck (or prayer, whichever one you believe in) you could definitely get a job!

I wonder how affected the techie jobs are – sound engineer, grip, etc – in terms of the media recession. Certainly, journalism (in all its forms) is taking a hit on a global scale.

    Thanks for the post.

The only recession proof job that I know would be working with the government. Besides that, I feel that very job scope is probably affected in one way or another, for the worst or the better.

Hope you enjoyed reading the post. Thanks for the comment!
