Google’s Nexus One Phone

The anticipation is over. Google’s superphone (as they call it) is finally here. Maybe it’s because Google is the biggest brand in the world, I can’t help but WANT the phone. I’m not even looking at it’s specs yet, it’s just a magnetism of owning one.

For the TECH GEEKS  (For the not-so-tech-geeks)

*some taken from Mashable, others from Engadget

  1. 3.7″ AMOLED display – 480 x 800 capacitive touchscreen – with a trackball. (AMOLED is Active-matrix organic light-emitting diode, a display technology for ultra thin and ultra bright display)
  2. Comes with light sensor, GPS, and accelerometer (accelorometer is a component that measures tilt and motion. It knows what angle it is being held at. It can also measure movements such as rotation, and motion gestures such as swinging, shaking, and flicking.)
  3. HSPA-capable GSM radio (High Speed Packet Access is a tech that allows the end-user to enjoy speeds of at least 1Mbps upwards, depending upon the peak speed of the network)
  4. 130 grams in weight and 11.5 mm in width
  5. 5MP with LED flash
  6. 2 microphones – one of which is used for noise cancellation.
  7. 512MB of both RAM and ROM
  8. A microSD slot (which comes loaded with a 4GB card, but is expandable to 32GB)
  9. 5 Customized Interface for Homescreens
  10. Text field are voice-enabled.

Engadget has got their hands on one of the first Nexus One. Click here to see a gallery filled with pictures of Nexus One right from its packaging! How cool is that?

Check out Google’s very own demo page. (This is the sad part, even before I can start enquiring about it, it says:  Sorry, the Nexus One phone is not available in your country. Sobs)

It currently cost USD 529.99, that’s about RM 2K. But let me tell you, it’ll definitely cost a bomb went it hits the market in Malaysia (I’m guessing it should reach about 4K with the tax and all, maybe even more – Remember the iPhone 3G was only going for USD199, but about 2K above here?)

Should you get one?

I don’t know if you want it, but I sure do! But I shall wait till the price gets bit “cheaper” here or smuggle one from the US 🙂

What’s the Google Phone got to do with advertising?

Imagine cool, animated wallpapers and widgets that interact with the end users. Sure there are many now with the iPhone and other smartphones but Nexus One opens up the possibilities to even more creative ways to reach out.
